Apply course concepts to the workplace through Job Shadowing activities with Miller Fabrication Solutions! Coupled with a Plant Tour, Job Shadowing allows students to observe and engage with experts in metal fabrication, such as Crew Leaders, Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Operators, with a hands-on component to experience the responsibilities and requirements associated with the production of high-quality parts and assemblies for some of the largest equipment manufacturers in the world. Plant Tours with Job Shadowing are available across each of the three Miller facilities in Brookville and Homer City, Pennsylvania.
Educational plant tours at Miller encompass an introductory presentation, safety briefing, guided tour with interactive game and job shadowing activity over the span of 3-4 hours at one facility. During a Plant Tour, students will see the live production of metal parts and assemblies using the latest in heavy machinery and automation, with frequent opportunities to ask questions and further their understanding of modern manufacturing processes and career pathways. Optimal group sizes for each tour consist of 14 students; larger groups may be split into separate event dates and times. Plant Tours may be scheduled at each Miller facility in Jefferson County and Indiana County by contacting your Business and Education staff member .
